Building a Vibrant Life and Career - WSA-TV Panel Discussion
Oct 03, 2024I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Fonda Neal, Dr. Nicole Bradford, Jazmine Booker, and Women Speaker's Association TV host Laura Rubinstein to share insights on building a vibrant life, from wellness to workplace excellence.
Each of us discussed a different aspect of women's empowerment and wellness. Fonda Neal, a health coach, shared how the body has an amazing ability to heal itself, given the proper support. She addressed seven essentials of health—sleep, nutrition, movement, emotional wellness, toxin elimination, hydration, and environmental wellness—and how they can promote a healthier, happier, and more vibrant life.
Dr. Nicole Bradford, a speaker and educator, shared her framework, MAINTAIN, for helping others design the life that they desire and deserve: M—mindset, A—action, I—intentional, N—nurture, T—tenacious, A—authentic, I—integrity, and N—non-negotiables.
Jazmine Booker, an industry expert on video production, discussed the importance of collaboration. She noted that we don't have to be competitive to make money. Instead, building a collaborative environment will make you happier and bring more money, as the teams can tackle issues, learn, grow, and move together.
My contribution to this impactful conversation centered around personal branding.
If you want to advance in your career, you must focus on more than just your performance. While your personal brand and performance aren't mutually exclusive, they feed into each other.
High performance can enhance your personal brand, but a strong personal brand can lead to opportunities where you can showcase and enhance your performance.
In other words, if you don't know how to speak with authority about what you do and what you have to offer the world, your performance will only get you so far. That's why a recent study showed that 80% of executives consider personal branding critical to career success.
A recent testimonial from one of our clients, a Vice President at the pharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb, shared:
Dr. Parker Walsh is truly a master at her craft. I started working with Carol on my personal brand as I was seeking to elevate and streamline my style and optimize my time and energy. My work with Carol accomplished those goals and more. Working with her has been a game-changer for my career. Her expertise in executive presence and leadership has helped me develop my brand in a way that commands attention, conveys authority, and inspires others on my team. I did not anticipate the noticeable difference that working with Carol would have, both personally and professionally. I'm grateful for her mentorship and guidance and cannot recommend her enough.
In today's competitive workplace, personal branding is no longer a luxury; it's a necessity. Just as a strong brand helps a company stand out and attract customers, a powerful personal brand can significantly impact your professional journey.
Your personal brand is your unique identity within the workplace. It's a combination of your skills, experiences, values, and how others perceive you. A well-defined brand can open doors, attract mentors, and position you for career advancement.
To build a compelling personal brand:
- Know Yourself: Understand your strengths, values, and what sets you apart.
- Communicate Effectively: Highlight your unique value proposition authentically.
- Align with Organizational Goals: Ensure your brand aligns with your company's values and objectives.
- Build Visibility: Take on high-profile projects, network, and leverage social media.
- Be Consistent: Maintain a consistent brand image across all platforms.
- Adapt and Evolve: Be prepared to adjust your brand as your career progresses.
Remember, your personal brand is a journey, not a destination. By investing time and effort into building and maintaining an authority brand, you can position yourself for long-term success and fulfillment in your career.
